I’m fortunate to live within walking distance of Queensland’s premium organic grocer and café par excellence, Organika. Located on Weyba Road Noosaville, Organika is owned and operated by brothers Josh and Kris Barry, who have many years of experience in the hospitality industry and the fresh produce market as well as boutique fine foods. Organika’s tagline is “a passion for organics” and Josh and Kris are committed to quality and purity in supplying organically honest produce.
A stroll through their store confirms that they are living true to their credo – Organika offers an astounding array of organic products: from fresh fruit and vegetables to meat and dairy, a dizzying selection of teas, dry goods, oils, condiments, fresh breads, cosmetics and supplements to name but a few! Wherever possible, Organika’s produce is grown and handled without the use of synthetic chemicals, artificial fertilisers, food irradiation or genetically modified ingredients. The store is beautifully presented, and you can easily lose yourself browsing through the wonderful range of goodies.
The café serves one of the best coffees you’ll find in Noosa, as well as a good selection of herbal teas, juices, smoothies, breakfast, light meals and sweet treats. Organika is extremely popular with locals and visitors alike, and it’s a relaxed and laid-back vibe with the alfresco eating and sipping area looking across Weyba Road towards the beautiful Weyba Creek.
Today I joined a couple of friends for morning tea, and as I’m on a Spring detox, I opted for a pot of “Revive” tea – a blend of lemongrass, peppermint and sencha. Beautifully presented in a cute little pot, it was indeed a rejuvenating brew.
My friends ordered coffee, and I was more than a tad envious not to be joining them. Organika use Bun Coffee from Byron Bay, which is 100% Organic, Fair Trade, Rain Forest Alliance and Australian grown coffee. Also on order was a Portuguese Custard Tart, which according to my discerning friend is the best you’ll find in Noosa. My other dining companion, who happens to be coeliac, ordered a vegie burger which she claims was the perfect brunch. On the subject of dietary restrictions, those avoiding wheat or gluten are well catered for at Organika, as they have a number of gluten free choices and most of the sweets are wheat and even gluten free.
Whether you’re into organics, on a special diet or eating regime, looking for some interesting products or just wanting to enjoy a good cup of coffee and a wholesome bite to eat, Organika is to be enjoyed by all.
