For anyone that loves chocolate (and let’s face it, that’s most of us), the best chocolate to be found in Noosa is without doubt at Cocoa Chocolat. Offering an exquisite selection of hand-crafted chocolates and truffles made from the very finest ingredients, a visit to their shop on Hastings Street or their factory and shop at Eumundi is not to be missed.
Owner Louisa Raven is a second generation Dutch Chocolatiere and to say she is passionate about her craft would be an understatement. When you see the care that goes into making their exquisite products, it is easy to see why Cocoa Chocolat won the Best Confectionery Outlet for the State of Queensland 2009.
To ensure that their chocolates are of superior quality, ingredients such as Tasmanian Leatherwood Honey, King Island Cream and brand-name liqueurs are used. Local products such as Eumundi strawberries and Buderim Ginger are also used, and preservatives are left well out of the ingredient list. Cocoa Chocolat’s products are made in small batches so everything is ultra-fresh and sold within a couple of days of being made.
Walking into their shop is a sensory experience – the smell of quality chocolate is intoxicating and the beautiful display of chocolates in the counter is a visual delight. Useful to know is that their Hastings Street Shop is open on Friday and Saturday evenings until 10pm (in case you get a late night chocolate craving). With choices like Pistachio Cream, Passionfruit Hearts, Macadamia Caramel and Chilli Truffles, my only dilemma is what to go for. Ummm, I think I’ll take one of everything…
