The Noosa Longweekend Festival: Duck Waddle
One of the many things I love about living in Noosa is that they really know how to throw a party. In the case of the Noosa Longweekend Festival, it’s a 10-day party filled with arts literature, food and fun. This annual event has grown over the past 10 years to become one of Australia’s best multi-genre festivals, and this year’s program offered a fantastic selection of food events, including the return of the popular Duck Waddle.
Food, Wine & Fun in the Sun at the Noosa International Food & Wine Festival
As an avid foodie, I love a good food festival. But having Australia’s premier food event just around the corner from where I live is a foodie’s dream come true! If you weren’t lucky enough to be at the 2012 Noosa International Food & Wine Festival last weekend, picture this: amazing food, gorgeous wines, a line-up of some of the best chefs in the world and first class entertainment in a stunning location.
Whet your Appetite for the 2012 Noosa Longweekend Festival
The 2012 Noosa Longweekend Festival Program has just been launched, and aren’t we in for a treat! Now in its eleventh year, this multi-genre arts festival is a 10-day celebration of world class events including food, music, dance, theatre, literature, visual arts, and more taking place in a spectacular location. There is something for everyone in this year’s program, and as Noosa Foodie’s priority is of course food, let’s take a look at this year’s culinary offerings:
Gourmet Fare at the Country Fair
Normally a fairly sleepy town, Kenilworth was bustling on Easter Saturday. And with good reason – not only was it a gloriously warm and sunny day, Easter Saturday was the day of the Kenilworth Cheese Wine and Food Fest.
Lunch with Bill at Rickys
Being a foodie destination, Noosa attracts a number of food personalities and we are currently enjoying a spate of cookbook launches. With culinary celebrities such as Matt Moran, Luke Nguyen, Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Annabel Langbeim coming to town to promote their latest releases, we are spoilt for choice. Last Friday I was fortunate enough to attend Bill Granger’s launch of his latest cookbook at Rickys River Bar & Restaurant. Lunch at one of my favourite restaurants with one of my favourite cookbook writers – I was not going to miss this event!
Veggie Village, a community garden
One of the many things I love about living in Noosa is the strong sense of community and willingness of so many residents to generously share their time and expertise in an attempt to make a difference to the world. This weekend I had the pleasure of visiting the Peregian Beach Veggie Village, a community garden that teaches people how to grow their own fruit and vegetables using the techniques of permaculture.
Noosa Farmers Market, a Sunday morning ritual
The Noosa Longweekend Festival: Crab Crawl
Everyone loves a long weekend, but you’ve gotta love Noosa for organising a 10-day long weekend festival! The Noosa Longweekend Festival is a 10-day festival of theatre, literature, music, dance, film, visual arts, cuisine and forums. Naturally the cuisine events were my priority interest, so when the tickets went on sale a couple of months ago I was quick to secure my tickets for the Crab Crawl lunch. Lucky I got in quickly, as apparently the tickets were sold out within 24 hours!
2011 Noosa Food & Wine Festival
The Noosa Food and Wine Festival was held this weekend, and what a great weekend it was! Recognised as Australia’s leading food and wine event and now in its 8th year, the festival promised us an all-star line-up of celebrities, passionate chefs, fabulous food and wine and great entertainment. And I can confirm that it well and truly delivered.
